"SUPERHERO" SATURDAY EVENT @ VICTORIA GARDNES LIBRARY, SUCCESS!
Coinciding with Superman's 75th Birthday, June 29 also marked the Paul A. Biane Library's annual children's event "SuperHero Saturday." The event was located at the Library's Storybook Theatre, made to look like the entrance of the fortress of Solitude, where yours truly, read to the kids, the origin of Superman etc. (pictured above). The Riddler (Jack Roberts) was there on hand, keeping children entertained, with riddles of his own, while Poison Ivy (Sami Lopez) was present, snickering at Superman during a Q & A conducted by fiesty cub reporter Lois Lane. The occassion was presented by event coordinator/library staff member Allen Callaci and his group of volunteers.
The event was a success. Following the Q & A, the kids sang "Happy Birthday" to me and I got a birthday cupcake from Lois Lane herself. Following the birthday ceremonies, a lined had formed with kids, and their families, to take photos with Supes. I also found out that the author of the book I read to the kids is from ARGENTINA! I had a mother of two autistic children quietly tell me, "they did a good job picking you." But, the 2nd kid that asks me if I can fly, I'm just gonna show them my pilot's license, if/when I get it.
Subsequent to this, a representative from the local comic store FOUR COLORS, was there drawing sketches and overseeing comic related arts and crafts for the children.
